Auctioneers at Dingwall and Highland Marts are preparing for one of their biggest ever North Country Cheviot hill ram sales next Friday.
Under the auspices of the North Country Cheviot Sheep Society, 707 rams have been put forward for the great annual show and sale on Friday October 31.
The show, which is sponsored by Robertson Crop Services and D.R. Alexander & Son, Ifor Williams Trailers, will kick off at 8am with rams selling from 10am.
Judging the pre-sale show will be renowned Selkirk breeder Alan Cowens from Philip Haugh.
“These tups are ranging from coming from the north of Scotland down to the Borders,” said Paul Spencer from Dingwall and Highland Marts.
“The majority of the rams will be North Country Cheviot Sheep Society registered and we will have buyers from Argyll to the islands and the north of England.
“This is the day that we get people from every corner of Scotland coming here. Â It’s a great advert for the breed. Â A lot of the main breeders in the Cheviot world will be here either selling or buying and it’s the ideal time for the commercial man to buy tups.”
He said the entry included lots from many of the regular main consigners as well as several first draws of the year from others.
The mart will also be selling 280 continental and other breeds in Ring 2 from 11am.
Catalogues for both sales are available online at www.dingwallmart.co.uk
