Scottish rural charity RSABI has urged any struggling farmers to get in touch and ask for help.
The charity, which provides financial assistance to those who have relied on the land in Scotland, has urged anyone facing difficulties, whether they be financial or stress-related, to get in touch.
“Bad weather and the pressure of poor milk or potato prices could mean that some farmers and their families are facing very difficult times and an uncertain future. RSABI is here to help where it can. We offer support in a number of ways,” said chief executive Nina Clancy.
“For those facing financial hardship that is affecting their ability to pay household costs, we can provide some support for expenses such as food and utility bills.
“For those farming families who are struggling, RSABI can also provide assistance towards having a Whole Farm Review completed for the business. In times of severe stress, it is often hard to see a way forward or know what to do first. A trusted third party completing a Whole Farm Review can often provide solutions and there is always a way out of difficult situations.”
RSABI can be contacted by phoning 0131 472 4166 or by e-mailing rsabi@rsabi.org.uk.
“Sometimes it is just good to talk. Remember Gatepost – on 0300 111 4166 – is a listening helpline for anyone who wants to get things off their chest. Gatepost’s hours have been extended and the helpline is now available from 7am to 11pm every day of the week,” added Ms Clancy.
“Don’t let people suffer on their own, get them to call, we are here to help.”
