A north-east tractor dealer has been awarded a Royal Warrant for supplying agricultural machinery to the Queen’s Balmoral Estate.
Balgownie Ltd, which is based at Thainstone at Inverurie, has been supplying the estate with a range of agricultural machinery for the past decade.
Equipment supplied to the estate includes Massey Ferguson tractors and Ifor Williams trailers.
“It’s a great recognition of what we do, of the service we provide and an endorsement of the quality of our business,” said director Mike Singer.
“We now get to use the crest on our building and publicity and the phrase ‘By Royal Appointment’ so that everyone knows we are preferred suppliers to the Queen. It should be a really good way to promote the business and we’re very proud.”
The family business, which was formed in 1907, will take delivery of a 4ft royal crest to instal at its premises in the next few weeks.
A smaller indoor version will allow the firm to advertise the Royal Warrant for the next five years.
The honour, which is held by around 800 companies across the UK, is given to suppliers who have been providing goods to the royal family for at least five years.
