Sales of new tractors are still lagging behind last year, according to new figures.
Data from the Agricultural Engineers Association (AEA) reveals that 845 tractors over 50 horsepower were registered in the UK last month. This is down 32.7% on May 2014.
The AEA said: “This apparent dive in numbers should be balanced against the April figure which was almost the same as the previous year; if we take the two months together the fall was only 16.5%.”
The association also revealed that the number of tractors registered in the first five months of the year was 4,766 – down 17.8% on the year before.
Previous AEA figures revealed registrations in January were down 8.3% on last year at 656; down 27.8% in February at 502; down 19.6% in March at 1,472 and down 0.8% in April at 1,291.
