Aldi has been praised for its commitment to stocking Scotch Lamb.
The discount supermarket chain confirmed it was now stocking new season Scotch Lamb in its 61 stores across Scotland.
The fresh lamb, which is supplied by Scotbeef and sold under the Nature’s Glen brand, is all Scotch Lamb PGI certified.
Quality Meat Scotland, which oversees the farm assurance for and marketing of Scotch Lamb, praised the retailer for supporting the brand.
The red meat levy body’s marketing controller, Suzie Carlaw, said: “Aldi’s continued commitment to Scotch Lamb PGI is very welcome and a great indication of their appreciation of the top quality natural product which Scottish farmers are committed to producing.
“Scotch Lamb is also a fantastically versatile product which is underpinned by one of the world’s longest established quality assurance schemes.”
Aldi’s buying director for Scotland, Marion MacCormick, said: “Scotch Lamb is at its best at this time of year so to be able to capitalise on its quality and support Scottish suppliers and farms in the process is a major benefit to us as a business.”
