An agriculture student from the north-east is in the running for a prestigious animal health prize.
Helen Parker from Kemnay will travel to Birmingham next week to find out whether or not she has won a competition open to both veterinary and agriculture students across the UK.
Organised by the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers and sponsored by livestock nutrition company Volac, the competition tasked entrants with submitting a 1,500-word essay on farm health planning to demonstrate their knowledge of how disease affects farm businesses.
Ms Parker is a mature student finishing her Higher National Diploma in Agriculture at SRUC’s Craibstone campus.
She lives on Mosshead Farm, which runs a mixed arable, beef and sheep enterprise, and has plans to progress to an Honours Degree in Agriculture.
Ms Parker will find out if she is the winner of the competition at the Livestock Event on July 8.
