More than £1,000 was raised for rural charities at a special stockjudging fundraiser organised in memory of the Press and Journal’s late farming editor Joe Watson.
Hundreds of farmers flocked to the event at Adziel Farm, near Fraserburgh, which is run by Jim and Irene Fowlie.
The event, which featured stockjudging classes and a raffle, was launched last year in memory of Joe, who died at the age of 43 in March last year.
This year’s competition was organised by the Buchan branch of NFU Scotland.
A grand total of £1,300 was raised – half will go to RSABI and half to the Scottish Charity Air Ambulance.
NFU Scotland’s north-east regional manager Lorna Paterson said: “We had a great night at the Joe Watson stockjudging evening hosted by the Fowlies at Adziel.
“Regional chairman Roddy Catto presented Jim and Irene Fowlie with an Angela Davidson print as a thank-you, while the winner of the stockjudging – Wendy Willox – received her trophy from some younger members of the Watson family.”
