This year’s Echt Show was hailed a great success by show organisers.

Here’s a list of all the breed champions:

CATTLE

The Aberdeen-Angus champion
The Aberdeen-Angus champion

Aberdeen-Angus – Glenrinnes Farms, Dufftown, with three-year-old bull Logie Limited Edition, on his first outing and shown by farm manager Robert Marshall. Bred by Messrs Bruce at Logie and bought at Stirling in February 2014 for 8,000gn, this one is by Blelack Hildalgo and out of Logie Lady.

Reserve – Alex Davie, Perkhill Estates, Perkhill House, Lumphanan, near Banchory, with home-bred March-2014 born heifer Perkhill Evas Honey. She is an embryo calf by Lakewood Prince Maverick and out of an Evas honey cow.

British Blonde – Alison Watt, Birkenburn, Keith, with home-bred March-2015 born heifer calf Strathisla Laura, by Freefield Gopal and out of Strathisla Ellen.

Reserve – Alison Watt with home-bred 13-month-old heifer Strathisla Jodie, by Hadley Esquire and out of a previous show cow – Strathisla Venus.

Charolais – James Youngson, Westerton, Cullerlie, Echt, with two-year-old heifer Cullerlie Innes, by Balmyle Bollinger and out of Innes Fancy. She was reserve champion as a calf at Tarland and breed champion at Echt last year.

Reserve – James Youngson, with the mother of the breed champion – Innes Fancy – which is out of a Maerdy cow.

Highland – Ian and Mary Adams, 24 Beech Tree Road, Banchory, with two-year-old heifer Frangag Dubh of Cladich. Bred by Mr Jon H. Strickland and bought in Oban in October 2013 for 2,400gn, she is by Seionaidh Mor of Ardura and out of Frangag Donn 10th of Torloist. She was champion at Echt last year and reserve at Angus last month.

Reserve – Veronica Thomson, ClackRiach Cottage, Maud, with three-year-old heifer Ban Righ 4th of Mottistone. Bred by Michael Poland, she was bought at Oban in February this year for 1,600gn. She is by Eoin Mhor 5th of Mottistone and out of Ban Righ of Mottistone.

Limousin – Michael Robertson, Fodderletter Farms, Tomintoul, Ballindalloch, with Gunnerfleet Ivia, which was bought at the Gunnerfleet reduction sale in February in February for 2,800gn. This one is by Mariscote Graffiti and out of Gunnerfleet Rivia.

Reserve – Garry Patterson, Upper Forgie, Aultmore, Keith, with 14-month-old homebred bullock Aulside Jackass, by Dinmore Goldcrest and out of Clarkton Evelyn.

Simmental – Jimmy and Iain Green, Corskie, Garmouth, Fochabers, with the 45,000gn bull Bel Dhu Capercaillie. Bred by Billy and Anne Macpherson, of Blackford, Croy, Inverness, this one is by Hockenhull Waterloo and out of Blackford Wagtail. He was bought by the Greens in Stirling in February 2013 and holds the UK record for the highest priced Simmental.

Reserve – Jimmy and Iain Green, with heifer Corskie Emerald, by Dirnanean Bradley and out of Corskie Jools 2.

British Blue – Garry Patterson, with a home-bred yearling bull Aultmore Jumbo, by Gregmaur Osman and out of Neterdale Deva.

Reserve – James Youngson with February-2015 born bull calf Westerton Limited Edition by Tamhorn Sumo and out of Drumloan Fancy Pants.

Any other breed – Fiona Wilson, Fordie, Torphins, with home-bred 15-month-old Shorthorn bull Fordie Harrison, by Glenlough Lightning the 8th and out of Lowther Gaia 349.

Reserve – Alison Watt, with March-2015-born Shorthorn heifer calf Strathisla Trixy Janine, by Declan of Craigiebank and out of Grandtullybrae Yantara Trixy the 3rd.

Cross – Blair Duffton and Rebecca Stuart, of 2 Bogie Street, Huntly, with 13-month-old Limousin cross heifer Sossy Flossy. Bred by George and David Macarthur at Mid Fleenas, Nairn, this one was bought at Thainstone in October 2014 for £2,200. She is a full sister to the overall beef champion at last year’s Echt Show.

Reserve – Blair Duffton and Rebecca Stuart with 15-month-old Limousin cross Bullock Razzle Dazzle. Bred by Simon Stephen at Meikle Geddes, Nairn, this one was bought from Ally Fraser at the young farmers overwintered cattle show and sale at Thainstone in March for £4,000.

Young Handlers aged 10-12 – 1 – Beth Noble, 2 – Faye Wilkie, 3 – Kieran Clark.

Young Handlers aged 13-15 – 1 – Richard Davidson, 2 – Ian Anderson, 3 – Will Davie.

Young Handlers champion – Richard Davidson.

HORSES

Clydesdale – George and Ruth Skinner, Strathdon, Pitcaple, Inverurie, with six-year-old gelding Strathorn Mac. Bred by Sandy Cormack in Caithness, the Skinners bought him as a two-year-old. He is by Rosehall Calypso and out of Ha Darren Lily.

Reserve – Norman Christie, Woodside Croft, Kinellar, Aberdeen, with six-year-old mare Anguston Amber, by Old Greenlaw Lochy and out of Anguston Amy.

Highland – Jackie Corse, Millview, Milton of Potterton on a ridden pony – Brodie of Drumgarioch.

Reserve – Fiona McCulloch, Invercauld House, Invercauld Estate, Braemar, with Iona of Denwood.

Shetland – Harry Sleigh, St John’s Wells, Fyvie, Turriff, with Wells Fashion, by Wells Extra Special and out of Wells Fyona.

Reserve – Jane Milne, Milton of Auchorthie, Maud, Peterhead, with Fairytail Fernando, by Fairytail Primo Dominie and out of Fairytail May Day Miracle.

SHEEP

Suffolk – Gordon Troup Shaggart, Sauchen, with a homebred gimmer by Baileys Rock Solid out of a ewe by Cairness Liam. She was third at the Highland and placed here last year.

Reserve – C and M Bruce, Tillyeve, Undy, with Davishill Alfie a shearling ram bought last year at Stirling for 1400gns. He is by Deveronside Discovery and was on his first outing.

Texel – Stuart Barclay, South Road , Insch with a Forkins bred suckled gimmer bought in northern Ireland from Alistair Gault. She is by Knock To Jan.

Reserve – Rodney Blackhall, Balbairdie, Durris, Banchory, with the two shear ram Hilltop Untouchable, bought privately from Kenny Prattling. He is a full brother to Hilltop Uncle Sam and stood second in his class to the supreme champion at Banchory last year.

Charollais – Eilidh and Erin Duncan, Braemuir, Auchnagatt. Champion was a December born tup lamb that was placed at the Highland and is by Arjane Clansman. He is is out of a Cannahaars ewe.

Reserve – Eilidh and Erin Duncan with a December-born ewe lamb by Riverdale Noble out of a homebred ewe that was also placed at Ingliston.

The any other breed champion

Any other breed – Patricia Imlah, Wood Cottages, Kingseat, with the two shear Rouge ram, Flying horse Flo, an imported Belgium bred tup that was reserve at the Highland and Turriff last year. He was imported as a lamb and has won numerous prize tickets in the north east.

Reserve – Stasa Moyse, Woodhillock, Skene, with a Blue Texel gimmer bought at Carlisle last year from the Beli Blues flock. She was on her first outing.

Bluefaced Leicester – Andrew Jolly, Clyne Farm, Straloch, with an April born tup lamb by Craig Yr Orsedd out of a Waterside bred ewe bought at Carlisle in 2013. She was on her first outing.

Reserve – Rodney Black hall, Balbairdie, Durris, with a homebredgimmer by a Mossvale sire bought privately from John Minnis in partnership with Steven Burnett.

Beltex – Stuart Wood, Woodhillock, Skene. Breed leader was a ewe lamb by the 12,500gns Woodies Snoop Dog out of the Belgian imported ewe 111. She was first at the Highland.

Reserve – Stuart Wood with a previously unshown homebred shearling ram by Todhall Sumo out of the imported ewe 77. He will be sold at Carlisle next month along with 44 other Woodies Beltex.

Cross sheep – Colin Scott, Wester Biffie, Maud, with a pen of three Texel cross gimmers out of Suffolk cross Halfbred ewes that stood second at Fettercairn.

Reserve – Hugh Gordon, Clochnahill, Stonehaven with a Texel cross ewe.

Hoof and carcase – Hugh Gordon, Clochnahill, with mid March born continental cross lambs. The champion duo are Texel crosses out of Texel cross ewes.

Reserve – Hugh Cordon with a pair which stood second in their class to the champions. They are by a Beltex tup and out of Texel cross ewes.

GOATS

Champion – Gill Gunner, Craigie Croft, Tarves, Ellon, with Alana, a Pygmy goatling bought privately from Kim Faulkbourne.

Reserve – Fiona Smith and Family, Broomhill, Dunecht, Westhill, with the pure Toggenburg male Willowriver Schwartz, a two year old bred by Rachel Norman. He is by Linear Angus out of Jobre Candice and was reserve at the Forfar Goat Show and first at the Highland Goat Club Show and Angus Show.
