CATTLE
Aberdeen-Angus: Donald Rankin of Kilmaluag House, Duntulm, Skye, with two-year-old in-calf heifer Retties Lady Ruth. Bred by the Retties, who also showed her for Mr Rankin, this one is by Rawburn Elysium and out of Wall Lady Ruth. She was also native champion at Grantown yesterday and stood breed champion at the Black Isle earlier in the month. Last year she stood junior champion and reserve female at the Highland.
Reserve: Donald Rankin with a full embryo sister to the champion. Also shown by the Retties, April-2014 born Retties Lady Ruth 280 was junior champion at the Highland this year.
Beef Shorthorn: Glenrinnes Farms, Dufftown, with home-bred two-year-old heifer Glenrinnes Gabrielle. She is by Chapelton Ensign and out of Glenrinnes Thistle. She was female champion at Nairn and champion at Keith on Monday.
Reserve: Alison Watt, Birkenburn, Keith, with home-bred yearling heifer Strathisla Trixy, which is by Chapelton Winsome and out of Grandtullybrae Yantara Trixy The 4th.
Highland: Culloden Fold, c/o Taste of Scotland, Seabegs Road, Bonnybridge, Falkirk, with three-year-old heifer Dosan Og 89th of Achancloich. She is by Creag Dhubh of Labhdal and out of Dosan Og 74th of Achancloich. She was reserve champion at Sutherland.
Reserve: Allanfearn Highlanders, Newhouse, Strathpeffer, with home-bred two-year-old heifer Rowan of Allanfearn, which is by Crusoe of Brue and out of Abigail of Tirryside. She was champion at Sutherland and Nairn.
Simmental: Jimmy and Iain Green, of Corskie, Garmouth, Fochabers, with heifer Corskie Emerald, by Dirnanean Bradley and out of Corskie Jools 2. She stood reserve at Echt, New Deer, Nairn, Black Isle and Keith, and champion continental at Sutherland.
Reserve: D. and R. Durno and Sons, Auchorachan, Glenlivet, Ballindalloch, with March-2014 born home-bred bull Auchorachan Facebook. He is by the Durno family’s Irish-bred stock bull Rabawn Caesar King and out of Auchorachan Autumn. He was reserve junior at the Highland and is one of five set to be sold at Stirling in October.
Charolais: John Irvine and Sons, Inverlochy, Tomintoul, with December-2013 born bull Kilbline Instigator. Bought from Ireland four months ago, he is by Oscar. He stood champion at Nairn, Black Isle and Keith.
Reserve: R. A. Milne and Sons, Kennieshillock, Lhanbryde, with home-bred 18-month-old heifer Elgin Jane, which is by Caylers Gladiator and out of Elgin Call Girl. She was junior female champion at the Royal Highland in June.
Limousin: Stephen Irvine and Sons, Braehead, Drummuir, with January-2014 born bull Gunnerfleet Joplin which is one of the first sons of Maraiscote Graffiti and out of Gunnerfleet Fortunas. He was bought in Carlisle in May and stood reserve at Turriff and reserve beef interbreed at Keith on Monday.
Reserve: Garry Patterson, Upper Forgie, Aultmore, Keith, with home-bred 14-month-old heifer Aultside Jazz, which is by Dinmore Goldcrest and out of Emslies Erotic. She stood reserve at Keith.
British Blonde: Alison Watt with Strathisla Jodie, which is by Hadley Esquire and out of Strathisla Venus. She was champion at Banchory, Black Isle and Keith as well as reserve at Turriff.
Reserve: Alison Watt with home-bred six-year-old cow Strathisla Ellen, by a French bull called Super and out of Strathisla April. She was champion at New Deer and reserve at Keith.
Any other breed: Garry Patterson with home-bred yearling British Blue bull Aultmore Jumbo, which is by Gregmaur Osman and out of Neterdale Deva. He was champion at Echt and Keith and champion of the any other continental breed section at New Deer. He also stood reserve male champion at Turriff.
Reserve: Garry Patterson with a home-bred 11-month-old heifer Aultmore J-Lo. She is by Aultmore Gangster and out of College Valley Gemma. She was champion at Turriff and her mother stood champion at Banchory two years ago. She was reserve at Keith.
Commercial: Smallburn Farms, Plewlands, Duffus, Elgin, with January-born Limousin cross heifer Abhoot There, which is by Bryan and out of a Limousin cross Blue cow. She was reserve at the Black Isle. She will be sold at the Thainstone Spectacular next week.
Reserve: Smallburn Farms with November-2014 born Limousin cross Blue heifer Espresso. She is by Goldies Fabio and out of a Belgian cross Limousin cow. She will also be sold at the Spectacular as part of Smallburn’s consignment of six.
HORSES
Clydesdale: David Walker and Beverley Brown, of Galcantray, Cawdor, Nairn, with seven-year-old home-bred geld mare Galcantray Angel. She is by Heatherwick Perfection and out of Ord Jubilee Girl. She was overall horse champion at the Black Isle.
Reserve: Louise Tulloch, 5 Glenburgie Distillery, Cotts, Forres, with home-bred yearling filly Kilbuick Midnight Lexi. She is by Doura Defence and out of Kypehall Rosebud. She was second at Nairn and Black Isle.
Highland: Amanda Newlands, The Hollies, Balblair, Dingwall, with 10-year-old gelding Balcarse Ardmore Arch, which was bough as a three-year-old. He is by Moss-side Lairg Ghru and out of Mischief of Brethens. He was in-hand champion at Brodie and place second at the Black Isle.
Reserve: Lindsay Gunn, Rehiran Farmhouse, Cawdor, Nairn, with Taransay of Gersa.
Shetland: Vic Thomson, Tornaveen, Newton of Dalvey, Forres, with 11-year-old Tornaveen Cilla, which is by Daltullich Domino and out of Tornaveen Bob.
Reserve: Donald MacLeod, Lochfleet, Dornoch, Sutherland, with five-year-old yeld mare Hjaltland Hirta. She is by Vallendale Georgie and out of Finella of Houland. She was champion at Strathbogie this year.
SHEEP
Blackface: Robert and Stephen Duncan, Achdregnie, Glenlivet, with a four-shear Tinnis tup that cost £2,700 and is shared with Hillhead. This is his third championship win at Grantown in a row and he scooped the interbreed championship at the show last year. He is by a £34,000 Connachan and out of a ewe by a £16,000 Mitchelhill.
Reserve: Glenrinnes Farms, with a home-bred two-crop ewe on her third outing this year. She is by a £2,400 Blackcraig and out of a home-bred ewe.
Texel: Jemma Green, Corskie Farm, Garmouth, with tup lamb Corskie Whopper, which was bought while inside his mother at the Christmas Classic last year. He is out of a Milnbank ewe, which is by Teiglum Tornado and his sire is Glenside Valhalla. He was champion at Keith on Monday and male champion at the Black Isle.
Reserve: Keith Ingram, 2 Balloch View, Grange, Keith, with a home-bred gimmer by Clarks Update and out of a home-bred ewe by Deveronvale Sunshine. It stood reserve at Keith.
Other pedigree breed: Scott Robertson, 52 Conval Street, Dufftown, with a one-crop Suffolk ewe bought at the Christmas Classic for 850gn. She stood reserve champion at the show that day. She was bred by Graham Knox at Haddo and stood champion at Tarland last weekend.
Reserve: Yvonne Spence, Gowan Brae, Skye of Curr, Dulnain Bridge, with a Charollais shearling Parkgate tup that was bought at Stirling for 850gn. He was first at Caithness and second at Keith.
Cross: Glenrinnes Farms, with an April-born Mule ewe lamb by a Cottage tup and out of a home-bred ewe. She will be sold at the upcoming Huntly breeding sale.
Reserve: Gavin Breathet, Woodside Croft, Blackpark, Ardersier, Inverness, with a cross gimmer.
Jacob: Adam Christie, Birchfield, Midtown of Glass, Huntly, with a home-bred gimmer called Penny. She is by Blackbrook Dragon and stood champion at Nairn, New Deer, Keith and also at Grantown last year.
Reserve: Jennifer Milton, Newton of Auchindachy, Drummuir, Keith, with one-crop ewe Cairdswood Millie, which is by Burnside Evril and out of a Montcoffer ewe. She was reserve female champion at the Black Isle and reserve at Keith on Monday.
Zwartbles: Jim, Linda and Taylor Mair, Hollies Seaview, Dunmore, Beauly, with home-bred shearling tup Hedgefield Bonny Lad. He is by Coulraich Sebastiaan and out of a Brotherstown ewe. He was champion at Sutherland and Keith.
Reserve: David Moir, Home Farm, Cairness, Fraserburgh, with three-crop ewe Barmoll Tartan Talent. She was bought at a sale in Beeston.
