A group of young farmers from the north-east has been crowned cream of the crop.
Three Udny JAC members took home the top prize in the Scottish Association of Young Farmers’ Clubs (SAYFC) national agri-skills competition.
The competition, which took place at Lanark Market, saw five teams from across Scotland compete for the title.
They were tested on various skills including changing a wheel centre, finding a fault on a tractor, grading and weighing cattle and changing a universal joint in a PTO shaft. In the end the Udny JAC team, comprising Tom Bruce, Gary Bruce and Scott Taylor, came out on top with a team from Stranraer and Rhins YFC awarded second place and a team from Ayrshire District placed third.
SAYFC also held its national beef cattle dressing competition, which saw 10 teams from across Scotland compete. The champion title went to a team from Mauchline YFC, with East Mainland YFC, of Orkney, placed second and teams from Mauchline YFC and Bathgate JAC jointly placed third.
