Scottish rural charity RSABI has been given a £1,500 donation from the Montrose Farmers’ Ball committee.
The charity, which provides financial assistance to those who have relied on the land in Scotland, said the donation would help it provide support to those who have worked or currently work on the land and are facing hardship.
RSABI chief executive Nina Clancy said: “We’re always so grateful to those who provide donations to RSABI, and so we’re simply thrilled to receive a cheque for £1,500 from the Montrose Farmers’ Ball committee.
“This money will go a way towards helping us support those who have depended on the land for livelihood and now need a helping hand themselves, and we’re going to be keeping in touch with the members of the committee so they can see first-hand the benefit that their donation is having.”
Sandy Milne, of he Montrose Farmers’ Ball committee, which comprises 10 farmers who organise and run the ball every November, said: “Every year we choose a different charity to receive our donation, and this year we decided upon RSABI. There were several reasons for this, but it was mainly down to the high demand they are experiencing due to the poor returns, and the hardship farming is experiencing at the moment.”
