Budding young agricultural students from the Highlands and islands are invited to apply for financial support for their studies through the Black Isle Farmers’ Society educational bursary scheme.
The scheme, which launched in 2014, provides bursaries to students in the region who are either currently attending or have successfully applied to study an agriculture or agriculture-related subject.
Applications for this year’s bursary scheme must be submitted by June 30, and all applicants must be aged between 16 and 26 on the submission date.
Funding will be provided for either vocational or educational training courses, while travel-related projects and proposals will also be considered.
Examples of the types of courses which the bursary scheme supports include: agriculture, agri-business, animal science, countryside management, trailer, spraying or forklift training and vertebrate control.
Successful applicants will be obliged to present evidence of how they have benefited from the financial support and they will be expected to attend an awards presentation.
In addition, successful applicants are expected to have an involvement in the society’s events and activities throughout the year including the Black Isle Show, which takes place on the first Thursday in August every year.
To apply for support from the scheme, youngsters are asked to complete and submit an application form which is available on the society’s website at www.blackisleshow.info. More information is also available by emailing blackisleshow@btconnect.com.
