East Lothian farmer John Meikle raised £4,000 for RSABI after driving a Massey Ferguson tractor on a 500-mile journey around the north coast.
Mr Meikle, 62, who farms at Hoprig Mains, near Haddington, Edinburgh, took on the North Coast 500 (NC500) route in a brand new Massey Ferguson supplied by Ancroft Tractors and transported to the Highlands on a flatbed trailer provided by M. Orr and Sons.
The route, which is known as Scotland’s answer to Route 66, took Mr Meikle three days to complete and saw him visit places including Ullapool, Durness, John O’Groats and Dornoch. He was backed up by his friend, Brian Blackie, who drove a pick-up support vehicle donated by A.F. Noble of Penicuik.
Mr Meikle said: “Spending three days driving the NC500 route was a totally different tractor driving environment than the ones I’m used to. It was a wonderful experience, and I’m proud that I was able to raise over £4,000 to support RSABI and all the brilliant work that they do across the country.”
