Five jobs have been created by a new business serving Caithness and Sutherland’s energy sector.
Envision Engineering & Design Ltd was set up by directors Liam Sutherland and Stuart Anderson, both originally from Caithness.
The Thurso-based company offers full design engineering support, using the latest 3D AutoCAD software, to clients in the nuclear, renewable energy and oil and gas sectors. Its services include the design of pipework, steelwork, hydraulic and ventilation systems.
Liam Sutherland said: “Our team has over 80 years of combined experience in delivering high quality engineering design for different businesses. Working directly with fabrication companies, we pride ourselves that our solutions are designed to be easily manufactured and tested through rigorous engineering assessments.
“We look forward to developing positive working relationships with clients but also aim to develop markets further afield in the rest of the UK and we hope to create another three posts within three years.”
Envision was assisted with an investment of £25,000 from Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) towards its initial start-up costs.
Claire Farquhar, account manager at HIE said: “Envision’s strong focus on innovation and the clever use of the latest technology plays a vital part in providing high quality services to key markets such as marine renewables, oil and gas and nuclear, all of which, have the potential to deliver significant economic benefits to the area.
“Along with our partners in the Caithness and North Sutherland Regeneration Partnership, HIE has identified the energy sector as a key area of growth for the local economy and we are keen to support this good example of local people taking advantage of these opportunities.”
