Businesses from the Inverness area took advantage of free advice on exporting when a government roadshow visited the city yesterday.
The Export Hub articulated lorry has been travelling round Scotland and made stops in Skye and Argyll before arriving in the Highland capital as part of its Exporting is GREAT tour.
The tour is a UK Government initiative backed by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), Scottish Enterprise and the Scottish Council for Development and Industry (SCDI).
Yesterday a Scotland Office spokeswoman said the Inverness visit, at HIE’s An Lochran headquarters, had created considerable interest.
She said: “Its been very busy and business people from a wide range of sectors came along.
“Among those I spoke to were people form the hotel industry, a charcuterie and someone who makes mountain bike clothing.”
The roadshow, which is continuing on its tour in Perthshire, offers advice from experts about how to sell overseas and which markets offer the greatest potential. Visitors also have the opportunity to hear from experienced exporters and arrange one-on-one meetings with advisers.
Scotland Office Minister Lord Dunlop said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Scottish firms to get the support they need to start exporting and grow their businesses.
“The Exporting is GREAT roadshow is taking the message to businesses right across Scotland that the demand for their products and services is there, as is the help they need to make exporting happen. It is a great example of the UK and Scottish governments working together for businesses in Scotland.”
