The cHeRies Awards 2017, in association with Robert Gordon University’s Aberdeen Business School and supported by Mattioli Woods, is seeking entries for next year’s event, now in its tenth year.

Entries are now open to find successes and examples of excellence in the fields of human resources, recruitment and training in the north east of Scotland.

One of the nine categories that of the awards that are now open for entry is the Extraordinary HR Initiative.

The award, sponsored by Nexen Petroleum UK, recognises individuals or a team who can show evidence of a creative and innovative approach to HR.

Nominations in the category will offer examples of a new initiative – or initiatives – that were designed and successfully delivered in the last year.

These could include projects in a number of areas in the field such as compensation & benefits, IT, acquisitions/integrations, employee engagement, etc.

Success in the category will based on evidence given that the initiative has delivered a measured effect on the business and its people, and has contributed to the organisation’s competitive position as an employer.

Last year the Extraordinary HR Initiative 2016 award was scooped by the Everything People Team at Wood Group.

A spokeswoman said: “The Wood Group Everything People Team were absolutely delighted to receive the cHeRries award as recognition for their efforts in making the vision of a shared service a reality.

“The biggest benefit of winning the award is the recognition of all the hard work that went into shaping the shared service team – our model has also been used as a role model for other areas of our business.”

She went on to say how valuable entering and winning an award at the annual cHeRies event can be.

“It is a great platform to showcase the wonderful achievements and innovations within the HR, training, logistics & recruitment arena.

“Having to complete the nomination form and the subsequent interview was a great reminder of our achievements to date.

“It brought back a lot of memories and was a fantastic reminder to pat ourselves on the back.”

Ray Riddoch, managing director and SVP Europe of category sponsor Nexen Petroleum UK, said: “Nexen is delighted to sponsor the Extraordinary HR Initiative at this year’s cHeRies Awards, following Nexen’s success in winning the Excellent HR Manager Award at last year’s event.

“There are so many great ideas and work being put into practice by our HR personnel and these awards are not only a great opportunity to reward our people but to also celebrate innovation and creativity and share this success with the wider industry.”
