Two Highland craft breweries feature on a supermarket chain’s festive promotion which the company says will bring Scottish suppliers a £200,000 Hogmanay boost.
Aldi is promoting a 19-item menu aimed at New Year celebrations, featuring products ranging from a mixed pakora platter to luxury mini snowballs, sourced from companies around Scotland.
Among them are Happy Chappy and Rogue Wave beers produced by the family-run Cromarty Brewing Co on the Black Isle.
Also on the list is Uig-based Isle of Skye Brewing Co’s Tarasgeir Ale.
The drinks and other products will be stocked in Aldi’s 72 stores around Scotland from December 29.
Also featuring on the list are a selection of popcorn and crisps from Mackies in Perthshire and, from the same area, a game, chicken, pork and diced plum terrine produced by the Rannoch Smokery.
Other items include steak pies, samosas, caramel wafers and several more craft beers.
Richard Holloway, Aldi’s managing director in Scotland, said: “Working with Scottish suppliers is a priority throughout the year, and it’s no different over the festive season.
It’s important to us to have a range of Hogmanay goodies that are sourced from some of Scotland’s best-loved producers and we’re expecting demand to be high when this product range hits shelves in time for Hogmanay.”
