There could soon be a real buzz about a Lochaber hotel.
The Inverlochy Castle near Fort William will be acquiring some hives of bees for the first time and staff are hoping the new venture will be a sweet success.
Claire Moreland, food and beverage manager, said: “We haven’t kept bees in the hotel grounds before, so it will be a new experience for us.
“We want to put in a couple of hives to start with and take it from there.
“We have a large walled garden in the grounds with plenty of flowers, so it should be ideal for them.”
Ms Moreland explained that the local hotel and restaurant hopes to become more self-sufficient in the future.
“We have polytunnels in the grounds and are growing vegetables such as courgettes as well as herbs. We will have tomatoes and different varieties of salad leaves too.
“We have also planted 15 apple and pear trees although it will be a while before they bear any fruit.
“It’s really exciting that we are going to have bees as well and hopefully we will be able to put our own honeycomb on the breakfast tables in the morning,” she added.
