Moray-based digital communications company Fibre 1 has appointed Aberdeen “serial entrepreneur” Jim Clark as its chairman.
The company’s managing director Stewart Macdonald said the appointment of Mr Clark, founder of oil and gas waste management firm MSIS, would boost its UK growth plans.
Established in January this year following an acquisition, Fibre 1 is headquartered in Elgin and has offices in Aberdeen and Inverness. The firm recently launched its own dedicated fibre network and has established partnerships with a number of other companies, including Pangea, Talk Talk business, City Fibre and Metronet.
A well-known north-east businessman, Mr Clark has been chairman of utility services business Turiff Group, IT company Pragma and waste management firm Wastepak. He was also a director of listed waste management company Caird Group and landfill site operators Caird Evered.
Mr Macdonald said: “We are delighted to welcome Jim Clark as chairman. In the role he will add great value and support our growth across the key business sectors we operate in.”
Mr Clark said he was looking forward to taking up the position.
He added: “The management are very experienced in delivering cutting-edge solutions and it’s a positive time for Fibre 1’s growth across the UK direct and channel markets.”
Other north-east appointments announced over the weekend include the promotion of two Aberdeen-based lawyers at Scotland’s largest law firm, Brodies LLP.
Rachel Rennie, a member of the company’s energy and infrastructure team, and Jenna McCosh, who specialises in commercial property, are among 10 of the company’s staff to have been made associates.
