Glenallachie Distillery on Speyside is changing hands after an agreement between current owner Chivas Brothers and whisky entrepreneurs Billy Walker, Graham Stevenson and Trisha Savage.
The value of the deal was not disclosed by Chivas’ French parent, Pernod Ricard.
Paris-based Pernod said the transaction also included the Glenallachie single malt brand, the MacNair’s and White Heather blended whiskies and “relevant inventories to support future development of those brands”.
The company said the disposal was in line with its strategy to focus on its priority spirit and wine brands, and to “adjust its industrial footprint to its needs”.
It is expected the deal, which is subject to “customary conditions”, will complete before the end of 2017.
Mr Walker is a well-kent face in the whisky industry.
Last year, he and is family sold their Benriach Distillery Company and its three north-east distilleries – GlenDronach, BenRiach, and Glenglassaughto to US drink giant Brown-Forman in a deal worth £285million
Mr Walker has teamed up with Mr Stevenson and Ms Savage in the Glenallachie Consortium in order to buy Glenallachie Distillery, which is near Aberlour.
