Seventeen of Scotland’s leading food and drink businesses are celebrating success at the Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards.
Last night’s winners include north and north-east businesses Loch Fyne Oysters (LFO), Dean’s of Huntly, Eilean Dubh Restaurant and FAO27.
Argyll-based LFO won the Crown Estate fish and seafood accolade, Dean’s was honoured for its investment in people, Eilean Dubh at Fortrose was recognised for its commitment to using Scottish products and FAO27 – Inverness-based Interseafood Scotland’s seafood brand – scooped success through partnership and exporter of the year awards.
The joint crisp-making venture between Aberdeenshire-based ice-cream firm Mackie’s of Scotland and Perthshire potato processor Taypack won a confectionery and snacking award.
With 22 award categories celebrating excellence across Scotland’s rich larder, the Scotland Food and Drink Excellence Awards showcased a broad spectrum of companies from across the country.
The size of the event has almost doubled over the past two years and the 2014 event attracted an audience of 700 to Edinburgh International Conference Centre.
James Withers, chief executive of public-private partnership Scotland Food and Drink said: “We are thrilled to celebrate the standout successes of the Scottish food and drink industry.
“The awards recognise our best food and drink products and businesses and each of our finalists merit the commendation. There is a food and drink revolution happening in Scotland, driving record sales at home and overseas.”
