A free networking event is set to help local businesses make new contacts while learning what it takes to raise and coach a European and Commonwealth champion in the pool.
Organised by Business Gateway Aberdeen City & Shire, Go Network’s training for success event will see business owners from across the north-east line up on the indoor track at Aberdeen Sports Village to listen to Hannah Miley’s father, Patrick.
The ex-solider, inventor, helicopter pilot, dad and sports coach, will provide an insight into what it takes to become the best in your field during the session on Thursday, September 21.
With a lifelong love of swimming, Mr Miley has honed his coaching skills working with swimmers including Brooke Bennett, Paul Palmer and Ian Thorpe. Having passed his love of the sport to his daughter, he encouraged her natural talent right from the start in their local pool in Inverurie. His passion and knowledge have helped mould her into the powerful swimmer that won gold in the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Last year, he was appointed High Performance Swim Coach with Aberdeen University.
Andrew Burnett, operations director, at Business Gateway Aberdeen City & Shire, said: “Patrick knows the sacrifices that are needed to succeed, and understands the pressures that surround not only working with family but juggling career commitments with family life. His unique view on success will not only get people thinking, it’ll spark conversation.”
