One of the north-east’s brightest young sporting talents will feature in a business networking event in Aberdeen this week.
Gordon Mutch, who hails from Turriff, became Ideas In Partnership’s (IiP) youngest client at the age of nine when he arrived with his father and asked for a sponsor pack. IiP has invited him along to its Aberdeen Entrepreneurs lunch event at the Jurys Inn Aberdeen Airport hotel on Thursday.
Guests will hear from the promising young saloon car racing driver, now 15, as well as from John Clark, chairman of Aberdeen-based John Clark Motor Group (JCMG).
IiP director Carolyn Maniukiewicz introduced the pair to one another six years ago and the relationship has continued since then.
Gordon led the Junior Saloon Car Championship at the halfway stage earlier this year but a crash outwith his control derailed his title hopes.
His ambition is to race at Le Mans, one of the spiritual homes of motorsport racing. He currently represents Ecurie Ecosse team as part of its young drivers programme.
Mr Clark’s interest in cars started in his bedroom, where he bought and sold vehicles. Money from this first venture resulted in him acquiring his first dealership in 1969. Today, JCMG sells brands such as Audi, BMW Motorcycles, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mini, Seat, Skoda, Volkswagen, Nissan, Renault, Peugeot and Dacia.
