Tulloch Homes, the Highlands’ largest house-builder, said yesterday it was seeking more sites in the central belt in 2018 to build on a successful re-entry there.

The Inverness-based company reported “brisk” sales in East Kilbride, with chief executive George Fraser adding: “It is our intention to begin construction on a site at Glenrothes, Fife, by the second half of 2018. In addition, we are targeting the Glasgow-Stirling area to identify prospective sites.

“We withdrew from the central belt after the global financial downturn in 2008, but it is now an area of strategic interest for us again. In addition, we will return to Aberdeen to complete our Westfield development at Bridge of Don.”

Mr Fraser stressed the push southwards was on the back of a strong sales year in the firm’s Highland heartland, bright prospects and a strengthened land bank.

He added: “The Highland economy is going well, there is tourism growth and the university campus keeps expanding – creating jobs and confidence, which augurs well for the future.”

Tulloch will soon start work at Ness Side, Inverness, where 800 homes will be built over the next 15 years in a ÂŁ250million investment.

The firm has other projects in Inverness, Conon Bridge, Muir of Ord, Fortrose and North Kessock.
