A rare bottle of single malt whisky produced in the Highlands is expected to fetch up to £26,000 at an auction in Hong Kong next month.
With only 20 bottles released in 2011, the Dalmore Eos 59-year-old has become highly sought after by private collectors.
The limited edition expression is part of the Alness distillery’s Legendary Release collection of aged stock, developed by master distiller Richard Paterson, regarded among the industry’s most influential experts.
Created from whisky left to mature in two “outstanding” sherry casks at the Ross-shire site in 1951, the malt is described as “truly brilliant” by auctioneers Bonhams, who have estimated a selling price of between £20,600 and £26,000 when it goes under the hammer on February 2.
From the same collection, one only 30 bottles of Dalmore Selene 58-year-old is expected to attract bids of up to £24,000 at the sale.
Bonhams’ head of fine wine and whisky in Hong Kong, Daniel Lam, said, “Richard Paterson, also known as “The Nose”, has over 50 years’ experience in creating masterpiece whiskies like no other and this collection of Legendary Release is a testament to that unflinching commitment.
“The limited production, premium quality, and prestigious craftsmanship are all factors that attribute to the success of Dalmore and make it highly demanded by private collectors.”
At the same sale a bottle of Macallan Millennium single malt, distilled at Craigellachie, in Moray, in 1949 is expected to fetch £18,700 to £24,300.
Also among the 358 lots is a bottle of Brora 35-year-old with an estimated price of up to £5,600.
