Scottish law firm Aberdein Considine has beefed up its business development and corporate teams with new senior appointments in Aberdeen and Glasgow.
Graeme Ross has joined the Granite City-based practice as business development director from accountancy firm Anderson, Anderson and Brown (AAB). He led AAB’s business development activities for five years.
Mr Ross, who will work out of Aberdein Considine’s head office in Bon Accord Crescent, Aberdeen, has worked in financial and professional services for more than 20 years in total, having previously carried out a business development role in the commercial banking team at Royal Bank of Scotland.
Michael Currie has joined Aberdein Considine’s Glasgow office as a corporate partner from central belt firm Dallas McMillan, where he was head of corporate.
Mr Currie is dual qualified north and south of the border, and has worked in Scotland and London for both UK and US commercial law firms.
He specialises in general corporate advisory and transactional legal work in a broad range of sectors, both domestically and internationally.
Aberdein Considine said its latest appointments were a further demonstration of its growth strategy, the main focus of which over the past year has been to bring additional partner-level and senior management experience to its legal business.
In addition to hires for its private client, family law and property teams, the firm has recently appointed two new partners, Myra Scott and Laura Browne, for its lender services practice group, which deals with banking litigation.
Managing partner Jacqueline Law said: “We are delighted to welcome Graeme and Michael to the firm.
“Graeme’s business development experience and connections in the professional services and owner-managed business sector, together with Michael’s transactional experience and expertise in Scotland and England make them a perfect fit for us.
“This and our other recent senior appointments mean we are well-placed to continue to support our clients across Scotland.”
Aberdein Considine has about 400 employees across 19 offices in Scotland and the north of England.
Recent deals saw it acting for the selling shareholders of two Scottish financial services companies to the same consolidator, Succession Group, advise on French investment in Scottish green energy and assist in a fund-raising by a sports software start-up.
