Five high-profile panellists will discuss prospects for north-east business at a Press and Journal Morning Briefing in Aberdeen next week.

The event – Securing the Future of the North-east: Making the Most of Your Financial Year – is being held in association with Scottish law firm Turcan Connell and takes place at the Marcliffe Hotel and Spa from 8.30 to 10.30am on Friday. It features Geoff Aberdein, MP Kirsty Blackman, Jennifer Craw, Chris Foy and Alexander Garden.

Mr Aberdein – now global head of public affairs for Standard Life Aberdeen – was head of press for the SNP at Westminster and then special adviser to the Scottish Government. He was later chief of staff to then first minister Alex Salmond and played a key role in the independence referendum of 2014.

Mrs Blackman’s political career started with her election to Aberdeen City Council at 21. Now MP for Aberdeen North, she is also deputy leader of the SNP at Westminster and her party’s economic spokeswoman.

Mrs Craw is chief executive of economic development body Opportunity North East. Past roles saw her working for oil giant Shell and as chief executive at Scottish Enterprise Grampian.

Mr Foy, VisitAberdeenshire’s chief executive, has over 25 years of tourism industry experience and previously worked for the old London Tourist Board and Visit Britain. Mr Garden is a partner and head of tax and succcession at Turcan Connell, specialising in tax and estate planning.
