Inverness-based windows manufacturer Cairngorm Group has secured a £2million contract to replace windows in more than 120 homes in the Highlands.
The firm, which is entering its 65th anniversary, won the public sector contracts as principal contractor for the first time by tendering on its own rather than as a subcontractor.
Managing director David Dowling said: “We continue to enjoy brisk business on private developments via a range of major housebuilders, but we’ve succeeded in gaining approval as a principal contractor by the Public Services Scotland website.
“This involved making a submission on quality – because although 70% of public services tenders are based on price, the remaining 30% is on quality.
“This helps us as we have been painstaking in investing to secure all the up-to-date European and UK qualifications.”
Cairngorm is working on 40 homes in Fort William, 20 in Aviemore, 24 in Golspie and 42 others from Portree, Kyle of Lochalsh, Achnasheen and Invergordon.
This new stream of council or housing agency properties through principal contractor status has encouraged the company to appoint their first tenant liaison co-ordinator, Inverness woman Kate Beet.
Her role will be agreeing dates for entry, visiting sites every week and undertaking customer satisfaction surveys.
