Design, print and digital services firm XIC is under new ownership after founder Bill Fawcett sold a majority stake in the business.
Mr Fawcett has gone into semi-retirement after owning and running the company for 32 years.
He is staying on as chairman but the day-to-day management will be looked after by new managing director Murray Alexander, who was previously operations director, and Jason Moir, who was business development manager and is also now a director.
Mr Alexander has acquired a 60% stake and Mr Moir now has 15% ownership, with Mr Fawcett retaining a 25% shareholding. Financial details were undisclosed.
The new senior management duo are also the firm’s longest-serving employees, besides the founder.
XIC was launched in 1986, when Mr Fawcett carried out a management buy-out of the print franchise he had run for a decade.
The company, which was known as Xpress Print before a rebranding in 2006, has since grown from high-street copy shop to become a provider of design, print and digital services throughout Scotland.
Mr Fawcett, who plans to pursue other interests outside the print industry, has handed over the reins following a deal managed by law firm Aberdein Considine.
XIC’s founder said: “Murray joined the business in its fledgling years as Xpress Print, working his way through the ranks and becoming an extremely valued member of the management team. Jason is another stalwart of the business, who is well-known and highly regarded by our existing client base.
“I look forward to watching the business continue to grow under their combined guidance and leadership.”
Mr Alexander, who entered the print industry directly from school in 1991 and was appoined as XIC’s production director in 2006, before becoming operations director in 2010, said: “I have grown up with the company, as have many of our staff members, and feel very fortunate to inherit a highly experienced and hard-working team.
“My focus now is to combine this expertise with our new print technology to increase XIC’s business presence across Scotland.”
XIC employs 19 people across a 10,000sq ft headquarters and production facility off Wellington Circle, plus an office in Edinburgh.
