A fledgling business run by an entrepreneurial couple from Aberdeen has already encouraged hundreds of youngsters to get active through sport.
Emily Gray, who represented Scotland at hockey and netball at junior level, and is due to start a probationary year as a physical education teacher in August, launched Local Talent Camps (LTC) with her subsea engineer fiance Sam Fraser three years ago.
Ms Gray said the pair aimed to “provide the opportunity for youngsters to learn from their idols on their doorstep”.
LTC has worked with more than 15 international athletes from three different sports to date, while more than 300 young people have attended the two-day sports camps.
The latest stars to help inspire the next generation of sporting talent were Scotland netball captain Claire Brownie, who hails from Turriff, and vice-captain Lynsey Gallagher.
Just three days after returning to central Scotland from the Commonwealth Games in Australia, the netball duo travelled to Aberdeen to deliver training at Cults Sport Centre.
Ms Gray, their former teammate, said: “All of our camps have been a great success but this one was particularly special.
“Brownie and G are two of the most inspiring people you will ever meet. Their work ethic is impeccable and I am fortunate enough to call them my friends.
“To see the youngsters – and their families – in awe at meeting their idols hopefully made the trip worthwhile.
“It is certainly a highlight of local talent camps for myself and Sam, providing kids with an opportunity that motivates them to succeed and progress in their respective sports.
“The smiles on their faces are so rewarding and that has been the same for netball, hockey and girls football camps we have organised.”
Seven of the coaches who have delivered LTC sessions were competing as part of Team Scotland in Australia.
