North-based Albyn Housing Society has added another 28 units to its affordable homes portfolio after taking over part of a newly completed development at Conon Bridge.
Consisting of 77 homes in total, the development at Sellar Place is now in its fifth phase of development.
This latest addition comprises 18 homes for social rent as well as 10 homes available via Highland Residential’s mid-market renting scheme. The new development represents a total investment of £3.8 million, with £2m support provided by the Scottish Government.
Housing Minister Kevin Stewart said: “It’s great to see another high quality development completed by Albyn Housing Society, contributing to the Scottish Government’s target of an additional 50,000 affordable homes by 2021.
“We contributed £2m of grant funding towards building this latest phase in Conon Bridge and I am pleased to see both affordable homes for rent and mid-market rent opportunities provided which will diversify the tenure options for the community.”
Calum Macaulay, chief executive at Albyn Housing Society, added: “Our main commitment as a housing society has always been to bring high quality homes to those who need them most, and Conon Bridge is just one community in which we have delivered significant investment in new affordable accommodation in recent years.
“To date, this top quality development has provided 77 new homes for affordable and mid-market rent, contributing not only towards addressing local housing demand, but also the continued sustainability of the region and its distinct communities as a whole.”
In recent months, Albyn Housing Society has also taken handover of homes in Alness, Braes of Conon, Inverness, Aviemore and Kirkhill, delivering significant progress on its commitment to bring 750 new homes to the Highlands by 2020.
