A north-east technology start-up has been chosen to deliver artificial intelligence (AI) to Citizens Advice Scotland (Cas) under a contract showcasing pioneering new software developed in the region.
DeepMiner was co-founded in August 2017 by business strategist Duncan Hart and data scientist Aine Ui Ghiollagain.
The pair formed their venture in response to the Scottish Government’s CivTech Challenge, which brings together public sector expertise and private sector creativity to solve public sector problems.
Mr Hart has an engineering background and worked in the oil and gas industry.
Mrs Ui Ghiollagain hails from the US but has lived mostly in Ireland, moving her family to Inverness in 2014.
DeepMiner’s £30,000 contract with Cas will see it work on a bespoke, automated system to write and update web content using AI and machine learning.
The software will not only gather information and pull content from a range of trusted sources, but also scan for future changes to legislation as well as schedule and programme content updates.
