Offshore Europe returns to the Granite City today.
Here is everything you need to know about the event including road closures and its new location.
What is Offshore Europe and where is it held this year?
SPE Offshore Europe is back in Aberdeen this week, with the biennial oil and gas exhibition and conference notching up its 23rd edition since it was launched for a nascent North Sea industry in 1973.
The industry has gone through good and bad times in those 46 years, but for most of that spell – since 1985 – the OE venue was always the same.
OE 2017 was the 17th and last in the series at the old Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC), with the former prime minister, Margaret Thatcher, visiting Aberdeen to get that run under way in 1985.

This year’s event is taking place from today until Friday at P&J Live, the prestigious new venue at the heart of the £333 million The Event Complex Aberdeen development.
More than 36,000 oil and gas professionals representing in excess of 130 countries and all parts of offshore exploration and production are expected through the doors, providing a huge boost to Aberdeen and the wider north-east economy.
The event will feature 900-plus exhibiting companies, more than 15 international pavilions, and a Late Life and Decommissioning Zone.
There will also be more than 120 hours of technical presentations and plenary sessions under the theme “Breakthrough to Excellence”.
Are there any road closures for the event?
A range of measures will be in place to assist with traffic flow throughout the city during the Offshore Europe 2019 exhibition.
Dyce Drive between its junctions with the A96 and Wellheads Drive is closed until 6am on September 7.
