Law firm Brodies has said it has advised on a number of major hotel deals in Scotland in the last three months worth more than £170 million, coinciding with the appointment of industry specialist Bob Asher.
Brodies was adviser to Great Century, a partner of Hong Kong property firm Lai Sun Group, on the purchase of the Fairmont Hotel in St Andrews.
Brodies also assisted with the acquisition of the iconic Rusacks Hotel in the Fife town and the Marine Hotel and Spa in North Berwick, for US private equity investors AJ Capital Partners. Additional deals the Scottish law firm’s hotel specialists have advised on include the sale of the ownership of the Crowne Plaza and Hilton Garden Inn, both in Glasgow.
Brodies managing partner Nick Scott said: “Scotland’s hotels sector has seen a significant level of inward investment over the past 12 months and these transactions are reflective of the appetite that exists among international businesses to invest in areas of the country that are popular for leisure and business tourism.
“The Fairmont is a world-renowned hotel, and this deal required the expertise of the luxury hotels market that Bob, Helen and our team were perfectly placed to provide.
“Our standing as a UK top 50 law firm means we are able to attract lawyers like Bob to our firm, where our clients will benefit from his experience and international connections.”
