No pints will be pulled this month at the Highland capital’s newest pub, which opened its doors just days before the Covid-19 lockdown.
Although bars and restaurants in Scotland are expected to be allowed to use indoor areas on a “limited basis” from next Wednesday, Rose Street Foundry in Inverness will not be among those rushing to reopen.
The new Academy Street venue will carry on operating as a shop throughout July, selling owner Cairngorm Brewery’s products, spirits, wines and other items.
Its opening, on March 14, marked the culmination of several years of delay-hit work as the historic B Listed former iron foundry, was renovated and refurbished.
Cairngorm managing director Samantha Faircliff said: “Having been so excited to finally open the doors of the Rose Street Foundry after the incredible work of our team to transform the building, we were all obviously devastated to be hit with further delays due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“With so much uncertainty as lockdown restrictions begin to slowly be eased, we have decided to open as a shop for now and will not open our restaurant during July.
“The health and safety of our staff and customers is our biggest priority, so we feel this is the most responsible course of action for the time being.
“We hope that having a well-stocked shop full of local produce will be well-received by customers and help support other local businesses.
“This will then put us in a better position to open our bar and restaurant fully when we feel it is absolutely safe to do so.”
