The Cock and Bull restaurant at Balmedie in Aberdeenshire and its head chef have added another honour to their growing list of prestigious awards.
Ryan Paterson, two time Grampian Chef of the year and the region’s new hotel or restaurant chef of the year, triumphed again at the Catering in Scotland (CiS) Excellence Awards in Glasgow last night.
He won the category for pub excellence, pipping Michelin-starred Edinburgh chefs Tom Kitchin and Dominic Jack to the title.
In a good night for north and north-east culinary talent, Rikki Pirie of Aberdeen-based catering firm Entier came away with the contract catering chef of the year award.
Beauly firm Prep Catering was named independent event caterer of the year.
The CiS awards, the main competition combining Scotland’s catering, hospitality and tourism industries, were presented at a sell-out gala dinner at Glasgow’s Hilton Hotel.
