Inverness firm Cairngorm Windows said today it was on course for record £10million turnover this year, helped by growing consumer confidence in the economic recovery.
It reported the best six months in its 61-year history, with domestic window sales up 25% on the same period last year.
The company is also looking to cash in on demand for biomass heating systems after announcing a new division to focus on these.
Managing director David Dowling said: “By the end of June we’ll have turned over £5million for the first six months of the year and the strength of our forward workbook suggests that (annual) turnover will increase from £8million to £10million.
“Increasing confidence among domestic consumers is clearly evident.
“Some move to new homes and others upgrade their existing property, and we’re in a position to benefit either way.
“The only cloud on the horizon is the referendum, with some people expressing concern and saying they’ll wait till the result is clear before pressing their investment button.”
Cairngorm’s move into biomass comes after successful diversification into solar panels and kitchens.
It recently completed solar panel projects for Springfield Homes, in Glasgow, and an Edinburgh housing association.
Mr Dowling said: “We’ve found that our existing customer base has followed our new products.
“Those who bought windows have also bought our solar panels.
“Our new fitted kitchen division has got off to an excellent start.
“Now we’re launching a biomass division for home and commercial sectors where we supply and fit systems.
“We’ll have two biomass boilers in our showroom by the end of the month.”
He added: “We diversified during the financial downturn – when window sales crashed – but these have surged back, thanks to the spate of new housebuilding allied to home improvements.”
Cairngorm employs more than 100 people, having taken on 12 new workers this year.
