A £5million commercial project in Aberdeen, has had its official handover and the developer is seeking new opportunities in the area.
West Coast Estates (WCE), a private family-owned property investment and development company based in the Granite City, has a list of possible locations for future work.
It was responsible for building two units, providing 46,000 square feet of office, workshop and yard space, on a former brownfield site in Farburn Terrace, Dyce.
Danish freight-handling firm Blue Water Shipping (BWS) signed a pre-let deal for one of the units, with navigation and positioning system specialist Veripos taking occupancy of the other.
BWS has a 5,393sq ft workshop, 3,337sq ft of office accommodation and 10,107sq ft of yard space.
Veripos has 10,947sq ft of workshop space, 4,327sq ft of office accommodation and a 13,067sq ft yard.
WCE director Iftikar Mian said: “The handover was the final milestone in what has been a successful project for the company, underlining the potential in Dyce as the area continues to grow and evolve from a business perspective.
“We have a number of projects in the pipeline but remain open to opportunities with Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire featuring prominently on our list of potential locations for future commercial development.”
He said the Dyce project had “set a benchmark” for the way the firm had taken a redundant site, identified the opportunity, concluded the purchase, obtained planning consent, found occupiers and completed construction.
“It is a development model at the heart of our business,” he said, adding: “We are confident there are further opportunities and are committed to exploring those in the months ahead.
“Our plans for the future are not restricted to industrial and office developments.”
WCE is currently in the final stages of a retail development for Sainsbury’s in Guild Street, Aberdeen, and working on a similar project in Edinburgh.
It is also actively pursuing residential opportunities.
