The catering team at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) have been recognised for preparing and serving fresh, healthy food.
The venue has once again achieved the HealthyLiving Award, through a scheme run by NHS Scotland and funded by Scottish Government.
The HealthyLiving Award is a national award for the food service sector in Scotland; rewarding businesses that encourage healthy eating by providing healthy options for customers.
Only businesses that achieve the accolade can display the HealthyLiving Award logo and certificate.
The award recognises caterers that use healthier ingredients and cooking methods that keep salt, sugar and fat to a minimum. As well, they should ensure healthy options such as water, low-fat dairy products, fruit and vegetables are always available.
David McDonald, AECC’s Catering General Manager, said: “By providing healthy snack options, such as fresh fruit, salads and seed and nut snack packs in our Café Concourse, as well as using healthy, locally sourced ingredients we are ensuring that all visitors to the venue, whether they attend for a small meeting in the café right up to a dinner dance for 1,400, are being provided with delicious and healthy meals.
“The preparation is also key and our dedicated in-house chefs and kitchen brigade successfully deliver healthy meals to over 300,000 visitors at the venue each year.”
