US firm Rockwell Automation announced yesterday it had secured a £2.5million contract with a major North Sea operator.
Rockwell, which describes itself as the world’s largest company dedicated to industrial automation, was unable to say who the client was.
A spokesman for the firm said the operator did not want to be identified.
Rockwell, which has north-east operations based in Bridge of Don, Aberdeen, said it would use a team of about eight engineers to supply control, emergency shutdown and fire and gas systems for the contract.
Jim Donnelly, oil and gas account manager at the firm, added: “This is a significant contract win for Rockwell Automation and reflects not only the capability of our offshore safety solutions but also the hard work which is being done by our team throughout the energy sector.
“The oil and gas industry, and particularly the North Sea, is a major sector for Rockwell Automation, which is evidenced by our recent contract wins and continued growth in Aberdeen.”
