Fishing chief Mike Park has taken on a new role alongside his son in the oil and gas industry.
The Scottish White Fish Producers’ Association (SWFPA) chief executive has joined Aberdeen-based energy service firm OEM Diesel Products as a non-executive director.
OEM is led by managing director Barry Park, who said his father was joining the business in an advisory role at a particularly busy time.
Mr Park senior’s 30-plus years’ experience with a range of north-east businesses is expected to be a boon as the fast-growing company plans for a move to a bigger base in the Granite City.
The firm also aims to open an office in the Netherlands after a rise in annual turnover to around £1million, from £250,000 in 2013.
Barry Park said: “We forecast a projected increase in revenues by a further 50% for the financial year from 2014- 2015.”
OEM was founded in 2012 to provide a single point of contact for companies sourcing engine services or spare parts.
It currently operates from offices and workshop space in the Kirkhill Industrial Estate in Dyce.
The company employs 14 people, including staff and contractors, and it plans to take on six more before the end of the year.
As well as his SWFPA role, Mike Park is a board member of the Sea Fish Industry Authority, chairman of north-east fish-box supplier Box Pool Solutions and vice-chairman of the fishing industry’s North Sea Advisory Council.
