Australian women’s fashion retailer Taking Shape has opened its first Scottish outlet in Aberdeen.
The plus-size brand specialist took a 10-year lease on the former Austin Reed store at 253 Union Street.
Aberdeen property company FG Burnett acted on behalf of local investor Craigellen Assets in negotiating the deal, which has an initial annual rent of £60,000 for the 3,700 square feet unit.
Edinburgh and Glasgow-based Culverwell Property acted for Taking Shape.
FG Burnett director Richard Noble said: “This is another positive development in maintaining Union Street’s position as an important retailing location.
“It’s great to welcome a retailer of Taking Shape’s reputation to Aberdeen and it creates a feel-good factor on Union Street, which has seen a significant improvement in occupancy levels in recent months.”
Taking Shape managing director Alla Buinowicz said: “Our new Aberdeen store is our very first Taking Shape store in Scotland which is incredibly exciting for us.
“We believe that there is a great demand here for both our garments and commitment to providing a unique and caring shopping experience.
“Our goal is for women to enter as customers and leave as friends.”
