Subsea engineering and training company Jee said yesterday it had won a Scottish Enterprise contract to develop subsea electrical cabling for tidal-energy projects.
Jee, which has offices at Tonbridge in Kent, London and Westhill, near Aberdeen, said it was one of five firms involved and its share of work worth a total of £2.4million was £139,000.
It added: “The contract is part of a pioneering study for the marine-energy industry in Scotland, and will see Jee develop solutions for locating, securing, protecting and recovering electrical array cables for tidal-energy installations.
“The cables will transport power generated from tidal-energy devices deployed in high tidal flow areas to the shore.”
Managing director Trevor Jee said his company’s success in securing the work was down to “decades of experience in providing innovative, subsea engineering services to the expanding renewables industry.”
