An Inverness firm has installed £1.5million worth of its biomass heating system “Kabins” this year – and is projecting a 50% increase in such sales in 2015.
Korrie Mechanical & Plumbing has also picked up two new contracts worth £1.4million to finish the year on a high note.
Managing director Donnie Fraser said: “We launched Korrie Renewables and opened our own Korrie Energy Park in Inverness, where we manufacture biomass systems, installing them within a portable natural wood cabin.
“We can then transport the Kabins and install them anywhere on a ‘plug and play’ basis.
“The cabins have proved extremely successful throughout the Highlands, where there was a market gap. Our Kabins offer massive heating savings while also gaining regular Government RHI payments to the user.”
Korrie will this week commission the latest installation, a cabin at Scotsburn Court care home, Tain, for Cairn Housing Association, with whom they are in discussion for further orders.
Recent work includes installations in commercial premises in Caithness – Mackay’s Hotel, Wick; Norscot Joinery, Bower; and LED Scotland in Thurso.
The team are also beginning work on other installations, including Ashton Farm, just outside Inverness, Boat of Garten, Golspie, North Kessock – and on an estate near Aberdeen where a leisure complex is being assembled.
Mr Fraser added: “In addition, we have taken on the maintenance of the biomass district heating system for Aviemore for Albyn Housing – while Scottish Natural Heritage have appointed us r maintain their biomass system at their national HQ in Inverness, and other properties across Scotland.
Korrie said it now has a turnover in excess of £10million, and as well as their HQ in Inverness, also hasbases in Thurso and Fort William.
