North-east builder Stewart Milne Group said yesterday it expects to create 250 jobs to support growth in its homes and timber systems divisions in the year ahead.
It comes after the company added 160 jobs in 2014.
The Westhill-based group said this year’s headcount increase would bolster divisions in both Scotland and north-west England, as well as its timber systems facility in Witney, Oxfordshire.
It added it was also forging new relationships with the supply chain and subcontractor community to support in-house teams.
Stewart Milne currently employs more than 2,000 subcontractors across its UK-wide operations.
It cited a healthy pipeline of new housing developments and growing demand for its timber systems as key drivers behind its recruitment drive, which will see the group’s current 800-strong workforce mushroom in size by more than 30%.
Chief executive Glenn Allison said: “This is an enormously exciting time to be working in the construction sector as we bring premium new homes projects forward to meet market demand and continue to grow our timber systems business.”
