Offshore energy services firm Innospection has been acquired out of administration, saving all seven jobs.
The Aberdeen business is now part of Sonomatic, a non-destructive testing (NDT) and integrity services company headquartered in Warrington, Cheshire.
According to papers lodged at Companies House, two offers came in for the firm and the best of these was worth £380,000.
Innospection folded in August, with Graham Smith and Iain Fraser of FRP Advisory appointed joint administrators.
Firm suffered cash flow woes
Workers were sent home, without pay, while a potential sale of the business was explored.
The pair said the firm’s demise through the voluntary administration was due to “unsustainable cash flow problems”.
Andreas Boenisch, Innospection’s former owner and chief executive is now the driving force behind German start-up InnetiQs.
On his LinkedIn profile, Mr Boenisch says he is “looking forward to expanding on advanced remote inspection technologies and solutions – at sea, land and space.”
Innospection – founded as Kontroll Technik UK – has delivered advanced NDT services and solutions to the worldwide process industries, including the onshore and offshore oil and gas industry, as well as refineries, petrochemical and power plants, since 1998.
The business was initially based in Rugby, Warwickshire, to support the chemical engineering and nuclear power industries.
In 2005 the company name was changed to Innospection to “better represent its drive to bring innovation to the advanced NDT business”.
Relocation to Aberdeen
And in 2006 it moved its main operational base to larger premises in Aberdeen, where it grew its inspection service portfolio to embrace offshore energy and subsea markets.
The acquisition of the business by Sonomatic includes all assets, technology and intellectual property.
FRP Advisory said it significantly extended Sonomatic’s portfolio of “asset care solutions”.
Mr Smith added: “We are delighted to have secured the sale of the assets of Innospection and its range of leading industry technologies and systems to Sonomatic.
“It is particularly rewarding that several highly skilled jobs have also been saved and we wish Sonomatic every success with their development plans.”
Sonomatic operates from global locations including the Middle East, Malaysia, US, South Africa and Australia, as well as UK bases in Warrington, Aberdeen and Grangemouth.
