An Inverurie Business Association event will shine a spotlight on the fascinating tale of Aberdeen’s Marcliffe Hotel.
More than 150 of the area’s most well-known business people will attend the lunch at the Thainstone House Hotel in Inverurie between noon and 2pm tomorrow.
Stewart Spence, owner of The Marcliffe, Aberdeen’s only 5 star hotel and spa, will deliver a presentation on his 50 years in the hospitality industry.
The north east’s most famous hotelier, Mr Spence pulled off a shock earlier this month when he announced that plans to sell the hotel’s site on the North Deeside Road to housebuilder Stewart Milne Group had been scrapped.
The hotel would have been demolished and replaced with executive apartments, but it will now be refurbished and returned to its “glory days” by Mr Spence and his three sons.
IBA chairman Jackie Allen, said he is delighted to have Mr Spence as the event’s guest speaker.
Mr Allen added: “Our Association is working hard to promote local businesses of all sizes and from all sectors and we encourage excellent standards of customer service within retail and hospitality in particular and are keen to continue to raise the profile of Inverurie as one of the fastest growing towns in Scotland.”
Visit Scotland will also speak at the event about their Year of Food & Drink Scotland 2015 initiative, aimed at promoting quality local produce.
