North Sea awards entry deadline getting close

North Sea platform.
An industry in transition. Does it need a new independent body to oversee it's race to net-zero, while meeting the UK's energy security needs?

Time is running out to enter the race to win the first ever North Sea industry Gold Awards.

There are just over two weeks left to submit entries to the brand new event which takes place in June.

The Press & Journal, in association with our sister website Energy Voice and title sponsor Aberdeen Asset Management, has launched the event to mark a major milestone for the vital oil and gas sector – the 50th year of the north-east’s involvement in the development of the North Sea.

The special awards ceremony will include the introduction of an industry-first Hall of Fame.

The Gold Awards have been designed to recognise the influential players who made the industry what it is today and highlight the rising stars the judges feel will make a tangible difference to its future.

Despite current market tensions, the awards ceremony is a vote of confidence in the industry’s ability to carve out a successful path over the next 50 years.

There are six categories companies and individuals can enter, including Most Influential Business of the Past 50 Years, Most Influential Business of the Next 50 Years, Emerging Leader, Global Impact, Innovation of the Past 50 Years, Innovation for the Future and the inaugural Hall of Fame accolade.

Submission for entry is easy and free of charge. Category hopefuls can apply by visiting www.pandjgoldawards.com. The closing date for entries is just weeks away on May 8.

A panel of esteemed judges will name the first ever Hall of Fame recipient on the night.

The winner will be someone who can demonstrate a proven track record of being an industry force for good. Dedication to the sector’s success, investment in its people and an appreciation for the wider community will all be considered.

Press and Journal editor Damian Bates said: “In this, the industry’s 50th year in the North Sea, it’s important that the Press and Journal steps back and, for the first time, celebrates the amazing achievements the people involved in this dynamic industry have produced in our own backyard.

“The night will be fabulous and enable us all to remember the good times of yesteryear, and, just as importantly, look forward to the coming decades and celebrate the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs who will drive the sector onwards.”

The new awards ceremony will be held on Friday, June 5 at the Marcliffe Hotel in Aberdeen.

The glittering event will feature an evening packed full of entertainment.

The night also aims to recognise the wider community, which has supported the sector through both its ups and downs.

As such, husbands, wives, partners and children are encouraged to come along and be part of this fantastic celebration.

As the hopes of the industry’s longevity rest firmly on the next generation’s very capable shoulders, companies are also strongly encouraged to include at least two young members of the team who represent that future on each corporate table.

A table of 10 costs £1,500 + VAT. The website, www.pandjgoldawards.com, is live for bookings. Alternatively, Rachael Duff can arrange for tables to be ordered on 01382 575965 or e-mail rduff@ajl.co.uk.
