North-east chocolatier Felicity Macdonald has scored at Aberdeen FC’s Pittodrie Stadium by landing her first order from the Dons.
Her confectionary business, Felicity’s Chocolate, is supplying more than 700 boxes of bespoke hand-made chocolates for tomorrow night’s player of the year dinner at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.
Alford-based Felicity’s Chocolate makes luxury chocolates and truffles using Belgian chocolate and locally-grown fruits, and prints logos and images on them.
Mrs Macdonald said: “We’re supplying 730 boxes for Thursday’s event, each containing four chocolates branded with sponsor MCI Electrotechnics’ logo.
“We’re delighted to have won this order — our biggest to date and our first for a Scottish Premiership football club.”
The Dons’ shop at Pittodrie is now also stocking boxes of four chocolates branded with the AFC logo along with bags of chocolate buttons in four flavours.
Mrs Macdonald launched her business in 2013 after she read an article about edible transfer printing in a magazine bought in an airport lounge, and drew on the organisational skills and discipline she gained as a Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps captain to get started.
She first tested the market with cupcakes topped with transfer-printed chocolates but quickly discovered there was more demand for the chocolates on their own.
Her business was a finalist in the Grampian Food Forum Innovation Awards in both 2013 and 2014.
Mrs Macdonald also runs Berry Scrumptious, which specialises in bringing together farm-grown fruits and chocolate in a range of products.
