Caber Coffee said yesterday it was investing more than £200,000 in extending its Aberdeen headquarters.
The Granite City-based coffee wholesaler aims to increase the warehouse and storage space in its Holburn Street premises by 50%.
It is also creating a “purpose-built, hi-tech” coffee machine repair and service facility, plus a dedicated training and demonstration room.
The expansion is expected to lead to some new jobs in the coming months as the company steps up its growth plans.
Earlier this year, it announced that it had secured work which would bring in £1million of additional sales over the next three years.
“We moved to our current premises in 1991 and the business has experienced considerable expansion since that time.” managing director Findlay Leask said yesterday.
He added: “We have outgrown the Holburn Street facility in its present form and look forward to the completion of our new, improved HQ which will enable us to continue the business’s upward trend and correctly service the needs of our growing client base.”
Caber Coffee supplies ground coffee, beans, teas, vending ingredients and a wide range of hot beverage equipment for the catering and hospitality industry.
The family-run business was launched in 1988 by husband and wife team Dughall and Maureen Leask, and is now run by their son, Findlay. It currently employs 12 people.
Recent contracts are with clients in the oil and gas and retail and leisure sectors as well as the contract catering industry, where the 27-year-old company is enjoying particularly strong growth.
The firm is working closely with Bridge of Don-based Tinto Architecture to bring its premises up-to-date and create the extra warehouse space it needs.
